We have already shared many features about artworks created using odd and unique mediums – from figures made out of chains to amazing images created though leaf cutting. And today, we will add another amazing work that falls under this category of unusual art mediums.
Meet Ian Berry, the British contemporary artist popularly known as Denimu. His popular alias speaks about what kind of art he creates. Yes, you figured it out – artworks made out of denim or old blue jeans. Ian takes his love of old jeans into a new level of creativity. Lifted from his website, it is fair enough to say that Ian is obsessed about old and discarded jeans. He creates obscure urban landscapes, portraits and other installations using nothing more than blue jeans. Created by some cuts, stitches and glues – each piece of art is extra ordinary. Ian discovered the key to this artistic career during a trip back in his childhood when he found himself staring at a big pile of discarded jeans to be given to the charity shop. Some affectionate memories came back at him and began to develop his enthusiasm for the fabric. His artistic experiments with jeans as an art medium began while working as an Art Director in London and Sydney. After few years, he decided put his full time in his art. Eventually, his works caught the public’s attention and some were sold to private, public and corporate collections across Europe, America, the Middle East and Australia , and has been featured in innumerable art and fashion magazines from Elle to Playboy and appeared on some TV interviews. Lets take a quick look and be inspired on some of Denimu’s amazing artworks made out of jeans below: |
